In 1842 scientist Julius Robert Mayer told us that energy can be neither created nor destroyed. Today neuroscientists have theorized that consciousness may be an energy field comprised of electromagnetic waves, measurable in the brain. It’s all energy, baby. Your energy isn’t new to you, only new to your body.
Psychiatrist Jim Tucker, director of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia, and his predecessor the late Ian Stevenson, compiled children’s accounts of past lives dating back to 1961. In all accounts, children under 6 claimed and recalled memories from previous lives. Often their previous lives ended abruptly and/or violently, and in 20% of cases the child had a scar or abnormality that mirrored their cause of death in a previous life.
This compilation of data is compelling, and in several cases, Tucker was able to tie these memories back to living former relatives.
In part, this phenomenon can be tied to Molecular Geneticist, JohnJoe McFadden’s claim that consciousness is its own electromagnetic energy field. He proposes that information integrates into our brain energetically rather than physically. Meaning, a memory is attached to consciousness, rather than to a physical brain. It stands to reason that a person’s memories can carry on after their bodies die.
In fact, scientists researching memory still have more questions than answers about the function and mechanism of memory in the brain. We can see the parts of the brain that light up when a memory is created or recalled. *Amendment: Neuroscientists largely agree that memory storage happens in the hippocampus, and interacts with the prefrontal cortex on recall. Science is still working on how these mechanisms work. (I’ve posted additional sources below.)
Memory retrieval and storage are caused by the synapses between neurons in the brain. Synapses that are both chemical and electrical. Could the electrical synapse be tied to consciousness?
The theory of past lives is further supported by the quantum field. A foundational belief of most Quantum Physicists is that consciousness creates the material world. Think of reality like a projector. You see the movie on the screen, but the projector is inside your brain projecting the images out, and the movie reel and the light is inside you. In the famous double-slit experiment, light that was shone through a screen with two slits behaved differently when observed than it did unobserved; suggesting that the observer influenced the physical behavior of their environment.
Psychotherapy has some skin in the past life game as well. Dr. Brian Weiss, a former skeptic turned believer, pioneered Past Life Regression Hypnotherapy after one of his patients recalled a past life during a session. Dr. Wiess has met with and regressed over 4000 people since 1980 and has tied back several of his patient’s claims to actual historical events.
Skeptics abound the science is undeniable. Not only are past lives a fundamental truth among most of the world’s religions and cultures, but it is also on the precipice of acceptance in our modern culture of proof-before-belief. How much more proof do we need?
Looking to get insight into your past lives? Meditation is a good starting point. YouTube has plenty of guided meditations to choose from. In my experience, dreams can give you insight. If you’re comfortable with mysticism, I recommend the use of a pendulum. You can use a pendulum to confirm if what you saw in meditation or your dream was a past life. If you want to get serious, there is a growing number of past-life regressionists popping up, likely near you.
I told you that I read Soul Contracts. This is another type of reading that gives you insight into past lives. You were born with soul memories, characteristics, and personality traits foundational to your current life. Memories from a different life. How wild.
With Gratitude,
Crystal
The relief I feel having found someone who can apply scientific principles to Spirit.
you say here that where memory is stored is still a conundrum, but it’s already been shown that memory is in fact stored in the hippocampus 🤔, this has been common knowledge for a long time in neuroscience
